Under the direction of the Senior Safety Manager Texas Materials, Ready Mix Concrete, the Safety/EHS Assistant provides technical and administrative expertise to the EHS/Safety team. Assist with safety orientations, training, workers’ compensation, and required OSHA documentation.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Assists with workers’ compensation claims, including first report of injury forms; Forward documentation/reports to the company insurance carrier per their requirements.
  • Prepares reports and maintains safety files and documentation, records and training database. Monitors training database for expiration of training dates, assist with scheduling training.
  • Maintains and records incidents for the OSHA 300 log and OSHA 300A log.
  • Assists in preparing all notices required by OSHA and other agencies.
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating, and distribution of safety related programs, including calculations for the Spotlight safety incentive program.
  • Order and distribute Spotlight on the spot safety cards.
  • Assists with workers’ comp, auto and general liability claims with the claims team.
  • Assists with new employee safety orientation and job site safety inspections.
  • Order and manage personal protective equipment PPE for new hire orientation and safety team.
  • Assists with regional monthly reporting of leading indicators, incident and injury reports.
  • Random for non CDL/non-dot/DOT and NON-DOT UA post-accident.
  • Organize and assist in distributing weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety training.
  • Oversee and conduct all employee orientations, and safety training as needed.
  • Assist with follow up with corrective actions to plant inspections.
  • Oversee prescription eye glass and boot voucher programs
  • Assist safety team with annual safety training.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.

Work Requirements

  • Construction Safety experience is preferred
  • Must have a state issues valid driver’s license

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing schedules and projects
  • Strong ability to research regulatory rules and regulations

Physical Requirements

  • Long periods of sitting and looking at computer screens
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Must be able to work in confined space

Work Environment

  • Will work in office environment
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
