$86,560.00 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits
*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
Position Summary
The Transmission Interconnection Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and execution of transmission, generation, and large-load interconnection projects across PEC’s service territory. The Specialist works with Transmission Planning, Engineering, Commercial & Industrial Accounts, Project Management, Real Estate, Legal, Operations, developers, and external Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable grid interconnections.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate Interconnection Agreements, Facility Development Agreements, and technical exhibits
- Independently prepare and refine agreements, scopes, and technical exhibits
- Conduct detailed scoping assessments and identify technical/regulatory risks
- Collaborate with Transmission Planning and Engineering on system impacts, metering, protection, and upgrade needs
- Maintain documentation, workflows, and communication channels for active interconnection projects
- Lead coordination meetings with developers, ERCOT, and TSPs.
- Identify interconnection risks and support mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with PEC standards, ERCOT Protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with Legal and Real Estate on easements and ownership delineations
- Recommend and implement process and template improvements
- Travel to substations or project locations sites; travel for on-site meetings with developers, ERCOT, or TSP coordination meetings.
- Maintain the security of confidential information
- Stay abreast of advances in technology
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and ERCOT Protocols and Guides, interconnection rules and regulations, and modeling practices.
- Knowledge of generation, transmission, and substation technologies used in transmission level interconnections.
- Knowledge of transmission equipment, substation design, protection, and metering
- Knowledge of transmission planning study tools (e.g., PSSE, PowerWorld)
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to implement projects.
- Ability to summarize technical findings for effective communication within the Cooperative.
- Ability to effectively plan and schedule multiple projects.
- Ability to interpret one-line diagrams and technical documents
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and PDF markup tools

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or equivalent field
- Four years of directly related experience
- Directly related experience may substitute for education
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
