PEC is a dynamic and rapidly growing electric distribution cooperative committed to making energy more reliable, affordable, and an industry leader in customer satisfaction. As we expand and modernize our operations, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Director, Enterprise Applications and Engineering to provide strategic oversight and direction to the enterprise applications and engineering team, responsible for ensuring the devlopment, integration, implementation, and maintenance of cost-effective enter[ise systems that meet PEC's strategic and operatioinal goals.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing strategic oversight and direction to the enterprise applications and engineering team, and ensuring the development, integration, implementation, and maintenance of cost-effective enterprise systems that meet PEC’s strategic and operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain overall application architecture, engineering standards, and governance for the organization
  • Optimize the use of PEC's enterprise systems, including identifying, selecting, managing, standardizing, developing, and implementing new business applications, tools, technologies, processes and reports

  • Direct, manage, and support in-house and vendor applications and platforms
  • Partner with infrastructure, data, and business leaders to ensure system and platform investments meet business requirements
  • Manage implementation and integration of system and technology initiatives in alignment with strategic and operational goals
  • Identify and implement application and platform strategy to improve business performance and minimize support overhead
  • Provide overall direction and guidance to assigned project team members and lead the application support engineering team to ensure delivery SLA’s and KPI’s while delivering high-quality support services
  • Collaborate with other Information Technology management staff regarding enterprise and system-wide computer architecture, capacity, planning, security and usage
  • Direct and lead team regarding job standards and ensure staff stay current on new technologies;
  • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development for team members to include planning, implementing, administering, and evaluating projects and services impacting PEC
  • Hold vendors and external suppliers to service level commitments and ensure constructive and mutually beneficial positive working relations
  • Responsible for ensuring risk is managed appropriately. Champions stability initiatives to enable application High Availability. Ensures applications are designed and/or integrated securely with proper monitoring, failover and resiliency
  • Plan, analyze, evaluate, and manage enterprise systems, operational needs, and fiscal constraints
  • Assist with scheduling and testing software upgrades, planning and managing system implementations; and other related activities
  • Advise or respond to questions from other departments, the Board of Directors, and external organizations regarding complex issues or policies affecting the Coop's enterprise systems
  • Implement, establish, monitor, evalate, and improve processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with PEC's mission, values, goals, objectives, and initiatives and local, state, and Federal laws and regulations

  • Develop and administer budgets; implement and allocate resources following budget approval; approve expenditures
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities

A full range of supervisory activities, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for termination. This includes, but is not limited to, effectively communicating organizational policies and other information to subordinates, ensuring that employees have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Knowledge of software development, applications systems and system architectures Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and budgeting
  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, or processing information
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems, including current hardware and software technologies
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of the electric utility business and the cooperative business model
  • Significant experience with implementation, maintenance, upgrades, and operations of Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other Enterprise systems
  • Skilled in monitoring and managing performance, time management, and conflict resolution.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex issues and making a sound, decisive judgment to achieve resolution
  • Skilled in multi-tasking, prioritizing, and managing change
  • Skilled in organizing tasks and work assignments
  • Skilled in establishing and communicating performance expectations across teams
  • Skilled in managing and monitoring performance of teams and individuals
  • Skilled in anticipating and resolving conflict at various organizational levels
  • Ability to develop and make presentations to all levels of management
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with management and non-management
  • Desire and ability to work collaboratively and virtually with staff members across teams and across multiple lines of difference

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensing)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Directly related experience may substitute for education
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Ten years of directly related experience in enterprise application architecture, software development and support, including five years of management experience, with progressively responsible leadership and demonstrated ability leading high-performing teams in large organizations​​​​​​​
  • Energy or utility industry experience preferred

  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period
