Antenna Measurement Intern

ETS-Lindgren

ETS-Lindgren

Cedar Park, TX, USA
Posted on Feb 7, 2026

Join a global, team-orientated organization as our Antenna Measurement Engineering Intern to help us build a smarter, more connected future! This is a full time position and the internship program will be 12 weeks long.

Program Description

The program will be focused on advancing our planar near-field to far-field (NF2FF) processing and measurement workflow for antenna characterization. We already have a baseline NF2FF framework, including FFT-based processing on a regular scan grid, probe correction, and non-uniform approaches for irregular-grid data. The intern will help validate, benchmark, and extend these capabilities, with an emphasis on accuracy, repeatability, and reduced measurement time. The work will include algorithm verification using measured and simulated data, implementing gain calibration methods, and developing faster scan strategies. If time allows, the intern may explore advanced sampling and filtering techniques to further reduce scan points and mitigate environmental reflections.

Specific & Measurable Objectives:

  • Validate FFT-based planar NF2FF with probe correction
  • Validate Non-uniform algorithms for irregular grids
  • Implement and validate gain calibration
  • Enable faster measurements using continuous scanning concepts
  • Validate back-projection

Expected Results:

  • A validated planar NF2FF toolchain for both regular and irregular grids, including probe correction
  • A documented gain calibration procedure
  • A functional back-projection / aperture diagnostic module

How Results Will Be Measured:

  • Probe-corrected results match expected far-field patterns and gain within defined tolerances across test antennas and bands
  • Non-uniform results agree with FFT baseline, with quantified error vs. sampling density and irregularity
  • Measured reduction in acquisition time and total test time, with quantified performance trade-offs

Candidate Qualifications

  • Major in Electrical Engineering
  • GPA desired: 3+
  • Experience in Electromagnetics, Coding MATLAB/Python
