The Position

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Support Services Lieutenant, the Records Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Police Department’s Records Division, including supervision of staff and volunteers. This position ensures accurate processing and release of records in compliance with applicable laws, while managing public information requests, reporting, and overall records operations.
Job Responsibilities
Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates assigned staff and volunteers; monitors performance and provides input on hiring, discipline, and termination decisions.
Oversees daily Records Unit operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Provides departmental support, including training staff on records systems and ensuring accurate data entry and system integrity.
Processes citations, probable cause affidavits, and other legal documents.
Oversees records retrieval and report requests for internal staff and external agencies.
Processes public information and open records requests in accordance with state and local requirements.
Prepares and submits required reports, including monthly statistical reports and UCR/NIBRS data.
Responds to inquiries from the public, staff, and outside agencies in person and by phone.
Initiate calls for service
Accepts and processes payments for services, including open records requests and registrations.
Maintains records management and filing systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Orders and manages supplies, equipment, and assigned property; makes recommendations impacting budget, space, and operational needs.
Maintains training records and ensures staff compliance with required training.
Develops and updates division policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field AND
- At least one (2) years of supervisory experience in a law enforcement environment, including experience in records management; OR,
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License, with acceptable driving record
