The Recreation Assistant has a starting range of $15.53 - $19.50
The Cedar Park Recreation Facility hours are listed below:
Sunday – 9am-6pm
Monday – 5am-10pm
Tuesday – 5am-10pm
Wednesday – 5am-10pm
Thursday – 5am-10pm
Friday – 5am-9pm
Saturday – 8am-8pm
Hours of work will be scheduled between these hours. Work schedules are generally scheduled two weeks in advance.


The Position

Under the direction of the Recreation Specialist, the Part-Time Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting with front desk reception operations, including customer service, program registration, and facility management. Other duties include, handling community room rentals and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Routinely runs front desk operations;
  • Processes registration and payments for class enrollment, facility memberships and renewals, park and facility rentals and reservations;
  • Ensures the safety of users, staff, and equipment;
  • Monitors patrons to ensure that facility rules are being adhered to;
  • Maintains cleanliness of facility, including all equipment, weight rooms, courts, pavilion and community rooms;
  • Sets up, maintains, and dismantles equipment according to the schedule of activities;
  • Answers questions in person and on the telephone to assist the general public;
  • Assists in the organization of events and activities;
  • Provides tours for prospective members;
  • Processes reservations for pavilion and community rooms;
  • Helps maintain attendance records on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for classes, meetings, and facility use;
  • Processes babysitting reservations;
  • Prepares reports and maintains logs and records as necessary;
  • Enforces facility rules and regulations;
  • Establishes and maintains positive public relations;
  • Works varying shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, when needed;
  • Works special events during non-routine hours, as needed; and
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses

  • Must be at least 16 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous volunteer or work experience in a customer service, recreation, retail, or similar environment
  • Ability to work varied hours including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, when needed.

  • May be required to work special events.

Supplemental Information

Knowledge of basic customer service techniques; the general purpose and operation of a recreational facility; and personnel policies and procedures.

Skill/Ability to: understand and enforce facility rules; work well with the public; handle cash and balance a cash drawer; demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication; and maintain a good working relationship with supervisors and fellow employees.
