JOB SUMMARY
The Juvenile Case Manager provides professional services in Municipal Court cases involving juvenile offenders, including monitoring, screening, and assessing juveniles that have been charged with Class C misdemeanor offenses. This position also performs a wide variety of specialized clerical duties in support of the Municipal Court including the initiation, processing and maintenance of legal documents, correspondence and statistics; and providing information and assistance to the public. This position may require limited work outside of normal business hours.- Provides individual assessments of juvenile and minor offenders to Municipal Court Judges. Makes sentencing recommendations to judges and prosecutors regarding cases filed or diverted, and monitors compliance with court orders.
- Screens and assesses juvenile family needs by developing screening forms for the juvenile and parent to complete; reads and reviews the form with the juvenile for clarification; and identifies behaviors and areas of need.
- Ensures uniform and accurate juvenile/minor case management including docket settings, docket notifications, processing summons or subpoenas, coordinating courtroom activity, updates status in case management system, case compliance monitoring, and quality control.
- Communicates with defendants and parents, including explanation of court processes and assistance in locating all necessary programs & services that court has ordered.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with the County, other courts, school officials, and community service organizations to develop and implement collaborative youth services.
- Develops and evaluates alternative sentencing options, including community service and educational and rehabilitative programs that will increase awareness and reduce recidivism.
- Oversees all aspects of the Teen Court program (when active), including operation, upkeep, and volunteer recruitment, coaching, and guidance.
- Compiles accurate juvenile/minor data needed to prepare mandatory monthly and compliance reports.
- Assists in juvenile and non-juvenile dockets.
- Assists the public in person and by phone including retrieving information and files, and provides general information regarding municipal court cases.
- Maintains accurate disposition and fine records by collecting payments, posts correctly to the court system, and balances cash drawer following the established cashiering procedures.
- Stays abreast of legislature and court procedures and training related to court duties, ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, primarily as it relates to juvenile/minor offenders.
- Compiles, types, records and files a wide variety of court records, reports and materials including citations, summons, warrants, letters, reports, and complaints.
- Sorts, files, copies and distributes court documents and reports to appropriate personnel and state and/or county agencies as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses

- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline, and;
- At least two (2) years of experience as a case manager; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the required qualifications and proficiency.

Physical Demand- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands for computer and office equipment.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
- Extended periods of computer use and reviewing documents.
- Occasional local travel for meetings, trainings, or agency visits.
- Work performed primarily indoors in an office and courtroom environment.
