How you'll make an impact in this role

  • Expertly perform manual and automated cleaning of high-complexity surgical instrumentation.
  • Meticulously inspect, test, and assemble specialized surgical trays for diverse clinical specialties.
  • Operate steam and low-temp sterilizers while strictly monitoring biological and chemical indicators.
  • Ensure total adherence to AAMI/AORN standards to eliminate cross-contamination and surgical site infections.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
    • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

What additional preferences we're seeking

  • Minimum 5 years of recent, full-time experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a high-volume hospital setting, with demonstrated proficiency in all phases including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and case cart preparation candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered.
  • Current CRCST certification (or equivalent) required, along with proven track record of independent operation in decontamination areas without supervision; must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of AAMI standards, OSHA regulations, and Joint Commission guidelines for sterile processing, including immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) protocols—applicants unfamiliar with these will be disqualified.
  • Experience handling complex instrument trays for specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, and cardiology, with the ability to identify and resolve issues autonomously in fast-paced environments; no entry-level or partially trained techs accepted.
