How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Manage complex mechanical ventilation for critically ill patients, including the initiation and titration of conventional and non-invasive modes (BiPAP/CPAP); serve as the technical expert for troubleshooting high-acuity respiratory equipment in the ICU and Trauma bays.
• Act as a core member of the Trauma Activation and Rapid Response Teams, providing expert airway maintenance, manual resuscitation, and arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis during life-threatening emergencies, including "Code Blue" and high-mechanism trauma cases.
• Perform and interpret diagnostic testing—including bedside pulmonary function tests, capnography, and rapid ABG draws—to provide real-time clinical recommendations to trauma surgeons and intensivists regarding pulmonary status and weaning readiness.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to develop and execute pulmonary hygiene protocols and lung-expansion therapies; provide essential education to patients and families regarding chronic disease management and post-traumatic respiratory recovery.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Respiratory Care Practitioner provisional/temporary license will be accepted until license is issued.
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
